For the Open previews, Tennisense will be skipping ATP/WTA players who have pulled out of the Open, even if they are currently ranked in the Top 10.

Let’s talk a bit about Svetlana Kuznetsova. The Russian powerhouse does not get enough coverage as most… make that the rest of her top ten counterparts, and that’s a shame. It is easy to forget that this lady has won two grand slam titles over the course of her career. She’s also got two in doubles. That’s not too shabby at all.
I’ll go out on a limb and say most tennis pundits don’t pick her to win anything because you never know which Kuznetsova you are going to get. When she’s dialed in, she’s nigh unstoppable. A moving freight train that crushes everyone and everything in sight. When she’s off, she can lose to the feeblest of tennis pushers. However, Svetlana has had a very steady season. She’s made it to the round of 16 or better in the first three slams of the year. At Wimbledon and in Cincinnati, she lost to eventual champion, Garbine Muguruza. The way Garbine is playing these days, that’s almost a badge of honor. Her losses have hardly been one-sided – even the straight set ones. It appears Svetlana’s challenge this season, is getting over the final few hurdles.
At 32 she’s another elder stateswoman with a fair bit of mileage on her. Yet I don’t expect that to be a drawback. I do think Svetlana can go deep in this tournament. She’s won here before and if she hits her stride, all bets are off. I don’t know if she can win, but I won’t be surprised if she made the semifinals.
